MG Storm led the Kentucky National Guard effort to intensify and increase cooperation between Ecuador and Kentucky, within the framework of the Partnership for Peace program, in order to address Public Health issues, Counter-Drug programs and promote continued and more frequent exchanges with Emergency Management and Military Personnel. Other responsibilities during his term as Adjutant General included management of the Kentucky Emergency Management Division, Bluegrass Station Division, Bluegrass Youth Challenge Program and the State-Owned and operated Frankfort Airport. MG Storm received numerous Military Awards and Decorations including the Army Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit Medal, Bronze Star Medal, multiple Army Commendations, Service Awards and Medals and the Vietnam Campaign and Service Awards, just to name a few.
Following his retirement, MG Storm joined Storm Security, Ltd. located in London, Kentucky (Laurel County) on July 1, 2008. His duties as Senior Consultant include operations, personnel, public relations and sales. Currently, MG Storm resides in Elizabethtown, Kentucky (Hardin County) and is a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church. He is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Association of the United States Army and the Kentucky and the United States Army National Guard Associations. Additionally, MG Storm is a member of the American Legion and Military Order of the World Wars. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Laurel Heights Home for the Elderly and Assisted Living in London, Kentucky and the Bluegrass Youth Challenge Program located in Fort Knox, Kentucky. In addition, MG Storm is on the Board of Visitors of the University of the Cumberlands. He is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a BBA (Finance) Degree and holds a Masters of Strategic Studies Degree from the United States Army War College. MG Storm is married to Monica L. Adams Storm, WKU graduate, and had three grown children, Kara Ayne, EKU graduate, Donald C. II and Meredith L. Storm, both UK graduates. |

Retired Major General Donald C. Storm served thirty seven years and six months with the United States Army culminating his career as the 51st Adjutant General of the Commonwealth of Kentucky on 10 December 2007. MG Storm enlisted into the Regular Army on 2 June 1970 and subsequent to Basic and Advanced Individual Training served an extended tour with Military Assistance Command, Vietnam (MACV). He transferred to the Kentucky Army National Guard upon completion of his Vietnam tour and has served full-time with the Kentucky Guard and Active Duty since 1974. MG Storm was commissioned as an Infantry Officer in 1981 and has commanded and served in Staff Officer positions at the Company, Battalion, Brigade and Division/State Headquarters levels. His Senior-Level Leadership Assignments include: Director of Army Personnel; State Surface Maintenance Manager; Director of Plans, Operations and Training; State Counter-Drug Commander/Coordinator. In addition, MG Storm served as Kentucky Army National Guard Chief of Staff from October 2001 to December 2003. Susequent to the declaration of the Global War on Terror (GWOT), MG Storm made multiple trips to the Middle East, specifically Kuwait, Iraq, Afganistan and Kosovo. He served nationally on the United States Army National Guard's Equipment Committee dealing with modernization and up-armoring of all combat and combat service support vehicles. During his tenure as the Adjutant General, the personnel strength of the Kentucky National Guard (Army and Air), increased approxiamtely twenty-five percent.
